Explore864 is a community-powered guide to Greenville and the South Carolina Upstate — independent, non-affiliated, and built for the people who live here, the people who just got here, and the people lucky enough to be visiting.
The goal is simple: local authority, honest reviews, and real input from neighbors — all in one spot. Not scattered across social feeds that bury good answers in noise, and not filtered through directories that rank whoever pays the most.
Why “864”?
It’s the Upstate’s area code — shorthand locals use for the whole region: Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Travelers Rest, and every small town and trailhead in between.
One spot, no agenda
Other social platforms have the people but lose the knowledge — recommendations vanish down the feed, and the same questions get asked every week. Pay-to-play sites have the structure but not the trust — placement goes to businesses based on their contributions or affiliations, not their merit.
Explore864 is neither. We are not owned by a tourism bureau, a chamber, an ad network, or any business we cover. Every listing gets the same shot. “Local favorite” badges are earned from the community, never bought.
What we do
- Catalog the places locals actually go — searchable by card, table, or map.
- Keep a live events calendar for markets, music, festivals, and meetups across the region.
- Profile every neighborhood so transplants and visitors can find their fit.
- Run a real community — a feed where neighbors share finds, trade tips, review the places they love, and meet up.
- Review every submission — businesses and organizers can submit their own listings and events, and a local editor checks each one before it publishes.
Who builds this
Explore864 is developed by CampDads Digital Media, an independent studio run by a transplant who moved here from San Diego, CA in 2022 — and built the guide he wished existed when he landed. That outsider-turned-local perspective shapes everything here: what you actually need your first week, where to find your people, and which spots are worth the drive.
Our promise
- No pay-to-play. Rankings and badges can’t be purchased — by anyone.
- No affiliations. We don’t favor businesses based on contributions, memberships, or relationships.
- Community first. Favorites are flagged by neighbors, and reviews are moderated for authenticity.
- Written by locals. Guides come from people who live here, not content farms.
